Absolutely...
but I follow it the other way too. If someone has done unto me a certain way, I just might do the same way back. I figure they must be going by the same philosophy.
My mom is upset with me because I told her I am not breaking my neck to stay late at my brother's wedding reception on a SUNDAY (why Sunday) night. I said "why should I be tired at work the next day... he left an hour into my reception and he didn't give us a wedding gift." Still, I'm the bad person in that scenario. I figure if it's not important to him to hang at his only sister's wedding reception or mark the occasion with some sort of gift that he could easily afford, why should I do anything different to him?
However, if his wedding was first and it was the other way around, I'd stay and even clean up at his reception if need be and buy a very nice gift. I'm so immature for a 34 yo.

I do and I try to abide by this but I have to admit that sometimes I fail to do this. ♥
