that was a great show. But, Billy Crystal's character, Jody, was not a ventriliquest. That was his step-brother, Chuck and his puppet, Chester. The sisters were Jessica and Mary. Mary lived modest and was married with two boys and Jessica had two daughters. Corrine was the s-lut who married a priest and the older sister married an ex-con.
They showed this show all the time on Comedy Central a few years back. I wish they brought this show back.

I remember it well- one of the best TV show ever- very funny- Loved the end of it when it would end with a Cliffhangers that were just stupid weird of both- ie “Tune in next week to see if the gay aliens return Jessica in one piece (Or something stupid like) -led to spin off show Benson named of the Butler the only normal (sane character) in the show .The families the Tates and the Campbell where full of crazy people- :)

Yes, I remember that one. Used to be shown on a Friday evening on Anglia TV when I was a kid. At around the same time they also used to show WKRP in Cincinnatti. Good shows.
The Butler Benson went on to star in his own series called Benson. My favourite characters were Chuck and his vent doll Bob and Marla Pennington, who played a psychotic teacher. Marla Pennington went on to appear in one of the worst comedy programmes of all time.....anyone remember Small Wonder?

Yes...I remember Soap vaguely. That was a long time ago. I think Robert Guillame (Benson) was in it. I was a little girl when it used to come on so I can't remember all the story lines but I think they were kind of grown up because my mom wouldn't let me watch much of it.

Yes I remember it well.I used to think it was hilarious, then I saw a repeat not so long ago and didn't find it very funny. Its strange how ones sense of humour changes.Do you remember the grandfather and the uncle who thought he was General Custer at one point. There were so many stories.
