Pocket watches. Most people can't afford to buy them at any price. Some are not worth anything but were passed down generation to generation and means everything to the family. Some are a symbol of times of struggle and reaching that point of purchase when reaching a level of financial (not wealth) but stability.

Oh, little trinkets like platinum cigarette cases, marble sized diamonds, little bars of gold.
Small subtle things? You mean like Hermes scarves? And stupidly expensive shoes?
Anyone can have stuff like that. It only costs money and if that's your goal, money isn't that difficult to get. Just depends on what you are prepared to give up for it. How many of the fantastically rich people do you know of who have a happy family life? Problem free kids? Still with their first wife? Not very many, because they traded these things off in order to devote themselves to making money. After they made a pile, they tried for the second wife, or the third, or the fourth.
I feel sorry for most of them, because they don't know about the simple things in life, and the real treasures, which don't have price tags hanging from them.

If rich people in New York have a family with a compulsive stealing problem, they can set up an account at the high-end department stores where the family member is allowed to steal... and they just record what was taken, and the family pays for it later. Its 25,000$ to set up an account like this, so i'm assuming its a rich-only thing.

The ability to buy other people drinks in bars, flash cars like Lamborghinis/Ferraris or Bentleys (but they're not small), solid gold toilet seats if they need to poo on precious stones, false nails, hair extensions all the time... really everything you could ever want is at their disposal. Ooh private jet hire is a good one. Fancy expensive cigarettes - usually Dunhill or Marlboro.

Mark 10:24-26 (King James Version)
24And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

Common sense, discipline, work ethic, rational thought, and others.
These are small enough to fit anywhere, yet those who have worked hard to become rich, or those who can maintain an inheritance almost always have them.
