My friend's little sister is 13 going on 14 and here mom won't let her wear eyeshadow or eyeliner. she's not one of those freaks who would put on about an inch of black eyeliner or really bright colors of eyeshadow. Do you think she's old enough to wear make up or not?

I can see where her mom is coming from, but I think she should at least giver her a chance. Like, maybe she could start out with some lip gloss and eyeshadow, and then if she's responsible and takes care of her make-up and doesn't look ridiculous, then she can try eyeliner or mascara and keep working her way up. I'm her age and I started wearing make-up a little while ago. I think if she knows how to put it on, and takes care of her make-up and skin, then she's fine.

I started to wear just a little make up when I was 16. I had the same issue. My mom though I was not old enough. I'm talking about wearing it everyday. But she allowed me to wear it to the party or some Holiday when I was about 13.

I think she is not old enough. I would let her to be a little girl just a few more years. She'll grow up and she'll have the hole her life to wear the make up.

I think every girl should have rights to at least just a little make-up-not enough to cover the face but just enough to enhance her natural beauty so she can really shine. I can imagine why the mother is forcing her to hold back, but I feel sympathy for the girl because she hasn't even been given a chance to show how much she would wear. I don't wear that much at all, usually none, but I'm allowed to wear just a little but, but I'm only 12.

It's really not the age of the person, but the maturity of the person. I was wearing make-up at 13, and even so, I still think it's a little too young. At that age, I think a nice pale lip gloss or lip tint is sufficient. A shiny lip goes a long way as far as make-up is concerned.

Yes as a matter of fact Make Up has NOTHING to do with age you could wear it at 6 or 96 it wouldn't matter its still make up I wore it starting at 8 or 9 anyway you shouldn't say so to your friends mom its rude but still she should be aloud to wear it

but there are hazards I only wore Lipstick and occasionally blush and mascara when I was young because I learned from my granny that if you never put anything but water on your face you'll get perfect skin she die around 76 and had not one zit or anything. and sometimes drinking soda can cause zits/acme around your mouth

maybe a little eye shadow, blush and pale lipgloss, but not eyeliner, concealer or foundation. You guys are so young and you will have the rest of your life to wear make up and do grown-up things. Enjoy your childhood and the fact that make up is not a necessity for you yet. :)

i am 13 going on 14 and i wear make up. i think it's a little extreme. if she doesn't wear make up now how is she going to learn how to put it on? when she's 18 and out of the house?

i think she should at least wait until 14 cause usually makeup depending on how u put it on makes u look older and theres already some serious freaks out here wouldn't want anything to happen to her so....if its light make up a lil gloss here a lil eyeliner there i guess.

yes i hate it when moms wont let you wear make up when your 13 almost 14 or they wont let you shave or have a boyfriend or even kiss their boyfriends besides the point i think she is old enough to wear makeup and her mom needs to let her grow up other wise the daughter might leave the house at 16 because her mom is being overprotective or not leting her grow up

I cant believe that I am turning into my mother, but I think no she should not be allowed. Girls that young should have their mind on other things then makeup, I would say that 13 is still a little young. When I was 13 I was still a total tom boy and that stuff just did not interest me.
