especially in public, even if they know there's people around (or especially then) is it because they're afraid the thing would fall off so they have to check if it's still there? or the gesture is designed to lure attention to their package? someone comment please...

Try putting a rubber band around your finger, make sure its tight and tell me how comfortable that is. Now imagine a penis (much more delicate than a finger) caught in a waistband or having the tender skin pinched in some otherwise awkward position. Your first and natural reaction is to fix it.
Now while for the most part I try to keep my adjustments discreet. I am not going to withhold it if I am in a state of discomfort. Guys have moving parts down their girls don't. You just may never understand.

It is both subconscious and necessary. As a woman, you don't understand the inconvenience of external genitalia. Things flip and flop around down there and sometimes require immediate attention. It is not to offend you.

One day when you'll be wearing jeans, stick a rod of approximatively same shape and length in your jeans and walk around, sit down, stretch, lie down, walk around some more.
You'll understand why you have to shift its position sometimes.

if your package isn't small it sometimes can get into an uncomfortable position that need to be changed. also most guys don't give a rats *** if some one sees them, I am more concerned with my comfort then your social idiosyncrasies
