I wanna really become a research psychologist, but does it mean i wont ever have any fun, like will i have to work 24/7?

no way, being a research psychologist is just like any other job. you have to work really hard and long at first to make a name for yourself and get a secure position, but after that, being a researcher has many perks. You get to travel all over the world to conferences (all expenses paid), you get to be your own boss (so you can come into the office at noon if you wish), and you can go on vacation pretty much whenever you want. my folks are both researchers, and they had time to raise my brother and i properly, and have plenty of fun doing it! i definitely think being in academia is a great way of life.

Of course you will have some time for fun. By the time you get to where you have to worry about it, this question will have answered itself. If you end up working 24/7, it will be because you are so involved with and fascinated by your work, that you choose to. Good luck in whatever you end up doing....shoot for the stars!!!!

It's all good. Once you're in the field, you'll love it. Yes there's work, but you'll be surrounded by interesting people and places. Go for it.
