Lee - I think you should not tar everyone with the same b(r)us(h)!

As a passing tourist I was refused access on a bus with two children after the machine ate my money so we had to go searching for more change and a machine that worked; I was accused of lying about the age of my niece who is 13 (apparently 14 is the payable point) and was told by one driver that he did not even have 50p of change at 11am - which was frankly unbelievable.

I live just in the peak district where we get lots of tourists and we never treat them like pests!

It is not just London Bus drivers who are rude I get it where I live as well, as I live in Essex, and most of the bus drivers are polite, and pleasant, I mean it don't cost much to be polite, friendly, and helpful, I mean after all that is what they are suppose to be paid for, ok I know they drive a bus all day, but it doesn't hurt for them to be polite to us, after all we do pay there wages, if i get a rude bus driver, like tonight for instance, my bus terminated at my local bus station, and the driver said Hello, so I said it back to him, he said this is as far as I go, and I said you didn't mention to anyone on the bus you wasn't going any further, so he got all shirty, then I said oh great I have to wait a hour for another bus, and he said no 30 mins, then I said yeah as I said a hour, as your buses turn up when they can be bothered, don't let the bus driver's think they are in control, we are not them, give them plenty of stick back, then smile, and say what's the matter you afraid to smile, as your face might crack!
It does wonders when we have the last laugh!

I'm a bus driver and in the morning i start happy then i have to pick up rude ignorant passengers who try to get free rides or cant possibly get change before getting on the bus then traffic holds you up and we have to hear them whinge which makes us later you do that for 50 hours a week and see if you still smile and be polite

..because they get an awful lot of stick from passengers all day. Have you ever noticed the ones who say they'll wait for someone to buy a ticket from the machine...then drive off?

You get them in Oxford as well! but look at it this way, if you had to drive a bus around, pick up people which are rude to you and sit in traffic all day you would probably be miserable as well.
