While chain restaurants adhere to a certain level of quality, different cultures have different standards, too. ex: cooking oils may be different; the beef is probably grown locally and therefore tastes different; ethnic preferences might determine a different seasoning...
I've had McDonalds in Mexico--Did you know they have hot sauce in their dispensers next to the ketchup?

Maybe because in Europe, McDonald's is the preferred choice of American visitors and the locals are not so fascinated by meat fillers, fats with chemical names that not even a scientist can pronounce, cheap white bread and sugar based sauces that are how old, nobody knows.

People shop, cook and the family table is the center of family life. Did you notice the same level of obesity there? If you did, then I stand corrected.

The key words, quicker and cheaper. So you got what you paid for.

At least you did try native cuisine.

So sorry!

Abroad must mean Europe, or maybe the Middle East. In Australia "Kangaroo" is not that bad if cubed. In Chia "Simease" cats are not that bad either. Just remember one thing when you go to Europe you will have to ask for ice, even if they have it. Beer is a water temperature. Never drink the water unless you see them open it. When I left Paris and got back to the states Inly had to stay in the hospistal for three days due to sthe food, and drinks. I, for the life of me wonder why folks from the USA visit such places as there is so much that you can see here. It will never since to amaze me. But that is just me. Ride a Harely from Alabama to Key West, ;to Casper Wyoming, to Jackson Hole.

It's the beef they use. Beef from different places tastes different. It's also how it's processed.

Best beef for fast food is in North America. I personally agree, and I don't like the beef that much in Europe.

The cheese is different, too. Some foreign countries, like Tailand, are lactose intolerant.

In Norway you could get a McLox sandwich, it's a salmonburger. Didn't like that at all!! But you could also get light beer - this was several years ago, don't know if they still sell that.
