why does final fantasy seven suck?

i don't like the game at all... BUT, it would be nice to hear some reasons why i should. good reasons.

i don't want to hear "because the characters were quite developed, better than any other FF" because that is not true, characters in IV, VI, and IX were more developed. even in X

i don't want to hear "because the materia/magic system was original" because it was almost a complete copy of final fantasy VI's system, except stat effects happend on level, not on equip.

i don't want to hear "because the graphics were great" because graphics have nothing to do with the quality of the game

i don't want to hear "because it had a great villian" since FFI had the best end boss, total chaos.

i don't want to hear "because it had great mini games" because the 'mini games' were not optional, even if replayable.

i don't want to hear "because the weapons were a tough challenge" because ANY monster can be a challenge if you're low level enough.

that said, give me good reason

you can't argue "because it has so many spin-offs" because a spin-off is just an attempt to ride a good sales wagon and make more money. have you seen FF:AC? i make better sock puppet shows. granted, my sock puppet shows don't have as good a fight scene as the bahamut fight.

i'm not sure, but i think more people had playstations than SNES's so that would explain half the reason VII sold more than VI or IV. the other half the reason being that the only thing that was difficult in VII was breeding chocobos, FROM INFO YOU RECEIVE IN THE GAME ONLY. you could easily figure out how by going online, but that guy that tells you... man... that just takes forever to find out how.

i'm not trying to offend anyone, as the second answerer seems to think, i just want someone to list some POSITIVE qualities about the game.

perhaps it is unfair, in the respect that before FFVII i played games like Dragon Warriors I II III IV, Lufia II, Zelda (original, links awakening, Link to the past), Phantasy Star IV, Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasies I IV VI VIII and IX (yea, i played those before VII), among other great RPGs.

it might be unfair because of the high quality of the games i played before i ever got to VII

I think it's just a personal preference if you ask me. You don't like the game-good for you. I'm not about to try and convince you otherwise because that is a waste of time. I liked the characters, they were easy to relate to and had cool weapons to choose from. I like the story, it was good to me and I enjoyed watching it unfold. Hell I even liked wasting my time getting that damn Golden Chocobo just to beat the hell out of any other chocobo in any race class.

But you didn't and that's fine with me.

..so stop telling us all the reasons you didn't like it, ok?
