Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is an economical automobile fuel, which substantially reduces transportation costs for motorists while protecting the environment and saving the country's foreign exchange spent on the import of liquid fuels. CNG is environmentally clean petrol alternative, which is lead free and produces 90% less carbon monoxide in exhaust emissions, thus reducing the hazards of lead poisoning. CNG has already been introduced as an automotive fuel in Pakistan by Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP) and the Government of Pakistan is promoting the development of the CNG industry in the private sector.

CNG means that it's Certified Natural Gas, usually odorless. Some city buses use this now for fuel. Measuring it at a gas station is up to the station who owns the pumps.
