Thats very valuable info Geekie. I have a feeling We'll be treking off the tourist trap as it were but heading back to Alcudia for our hotel and the all inclusive ale and cocktails that, I have no doubt, will send them into certain liquidation.

Jokes aside (you are naughty CityGent on your anti-Pakistan line again) but that young girl is 12 surrounded by family over there who may/may not have her in an arranged marriage as soon as the press turn their backs - what is she going to say?

It does not seem to me an issue whether she currently claims she wants to stay or not - the father removed his daughter without permission - that is kidnapping in my book.

Unfortunately, Pakistan and other many other islamic nations do not enforce the Hague Convention which returns children back to the jurisdiction of the court that made the custody order. It is yet another blatant disregard of the laws of this nation.

Keep yer mucky paws away from me, my not so young monster friend!!!

Hey Teach!!! Well we do have to tell the Gent off to keep him in line (trouble is he likes it)!!

By the way Gent - I would recommend that you and Mrs CityGent do not go to Alcudia. It is just a boring brit tourist destination. No decent spanish places there - if you like experiencing the culture. Try Formentor or Pollensa if you want to stick with that coast, or Port D'Andratx. Personally, I love Deia and Valledemossa (and anywhere not full of english chippies).

Hi Stewpot! If Norm was here too it would be a gaggle of my mates on this question!!

Only if they are 12 and think Pakistan is a better bet that the Islands...... Maybe she wants a taste of the bright lights and some adventure. Didn't you dream of fame and leaving the humdrum behind when you were that age?

I feel so sorry for her Mum (and her Dad), whatever happens there are bound to be recriminations and relationship problems. The days of parents being able to enforce their opions are long gone - for better and for worse.

I thought most Pakistanis were in Scotland selling booze, porn and lottery tickets already. The weather can get you down and it's cheaper than Alcudia so I understand why some would go.

I see the fun side to your question but in seriousness, that little girl has lived with her father for most of her life, and her mother only got custody last year. She obviously decided that it was more fun being with her father and unfortunately for her mother and sadly for the little girl if she has made a mistake, the media blew it up into more than it was. She should now be allowed to get on with her life and see where she thinks she fits in, she must have her whole life racing through her wee mind right now.
