you always mount on the left side. this tradition was started in england and now the horses are used to most things being done on the left hand side. to mount use a mounting block and put your left hand on the horse's mane. push off and swing your right leg over and find your right stirrup. have someone hold your horse untill you get good at it so the horse doesn't start moving while your in the middle of it.
pulling on the mane won't hurt them. they don't have any nerves there and they won't even feel it.
a bit does'nt nessacairly hurt the horse if used properly. its just cold medal in their mouth that applies pressure.
hope i helped!

properly: left foot in stirrup, hold reins (and kinda have that hand on the horse) then either hold the front of the saddle/horn and basically give urself a lift and swing ur right leg over the horse and land in the saddle.
Oh and before u mount, make sure the girth is not loose! There was a beginning student I had to teach for a couple weeks (instructor told me to train her) and she forgot to tighten her girth before getting on and she ended up landing on her rear in the sand! ps: it does not hurt the horse if u hold on to a little rein or pull a little on the bit. Just dont yank or else there will be a reason you will be not this horse's favorite rider

Mount from horse left if trained for that side. If horse is not trained you will have to break them to anything or person that comes in contact with the touching or weight on back. Some horse will let you ride without any gear, but it is not safe for you unless horse has many years of practice. Be safe Be careful and care about the harm and the unknown and the fear that comes . How would you feel with someone on your back for miles and miles. Know your horse; get to know your horse.

OMG....put left foot in stirrup..left hand holding reins and horn(the thing sticking up from the saddle in the front...dont blow it) right hand on cantle and lift swinging right leg around but dont forget to release right hand or you turn into a pretzel...hehe Remind horse to Whoa and settle into saddle gently. Pulling on the mane does not hurt. You mount from left side of horse for the left side of horse is near sighted and the right is far sighted.

Go to the Left side of the horse. put your left foot in the stirrup. grab onto the front of the saddle or the mane(no feeling in the mane). swing your right leg over and seat yourself in the saddle, put both feet in the stirrups(in english they should be on the balls of you feet). If the saddle slides a little whe you get on, have someone hold it still on the horse's right side.
Good luck...?

you alway mount on the left side. turn your back towards the horses head and grab the sturrup with your hand put your left foot in it. then grab the horses mane with left hand put your right hand on the back of the saddle. jump 3 times and pull yourself up. make sure you don't grab the saddle with both hands. make sure your left is on the mane. if you dont the saddle will usually slide towards you. it doesn't hurt the horse to pull on the mane.

Bareback is fine if you have good balance. You usually use a snaffle bit. Make sure the bridle is the right side. If you use a saddle make sure you stick your hand between the blanket and the horse right above the shoulder to see if it is too tight.

try taking lessons, I wouldn't get on a horse that knows your scared, or doesn't know how to ride, they know these things.
You put your foot into the stirrup and your hand on the horn and the other hand hold the reins, then step up and pull your self up and swing your leg over the horse and put your foot into the other stirrup
