actually I watched it yesterday and I felt the refs were giving quite a big advantage to Greece. I know the foul count was similar in aspect but USA was called for fouls such as the second 3 point foul where it definately wasn't. Or the intentional foul at the end of the game on Kirk Hinrich. Then the and one lebron should have had, not to mention the million times wade got fouled on his dunk attempts.. The big black dude hacked the crap out of anyone in the lane...... Plus those screen and rolls were illegal half the time they were set and that was the reason america had a tough time guarding them.. I play a high level of basketball and those screens were mostly moving screens (Illegal).... Stupid USA though couldn't make a free throw to save their lives.... I garauntee next season they will work on that during the Olympics

You can't expect a W every time. Even Tiger loses every now and then. And, the Bulls never played a perfect season during their hay-day (but sure as heck close to it with their 72-10 record in 95-96 season). But, when it came down to the wire, and the championship was on the line, then that's when the BEST of the BEST come out. Unfortunately, that's not the USA team this year.

Everyone (yes, everyone) shares the blame on this one. The PLAYERS obviously get most of it. They missed foul shots (should be free-bees), layups (again, free-bees), dunks (and yet again, free-bees) and wide open threes. Worse, they let Greece continuously beat them down the court for easy fast break buckets. It was like watching "Space Jam" Yes, they went in with confidence, but that will only get you so far as getting on the court.

The COACHES get some of the blame too. Greece was running a basic 2-3 zone (a defense everyone was taught how to beat when in grade school basketball, and even my 6th grade team knows how to beat this) and we were running some kind of iso one-on-five offense.

What spanked the USA team was the pick-and-roll (Greece ran it like textbook) on the other end. There's no excuse for not being able to slow that down. Pick-and-rolls are basically the backbone of NBA offenses and these guys see them every single day. (Utah in the late 90s ran it best, and they were stopped by the Bulls twice!!!)

Yes, I am passionate about this topic. But there is (was) a reason why I am so passionate about it... which I can't seem to find with this team. Don't get me wrong, I admire the players and their individual contributions. They just have to remember that they are a team, and it is a team effort.

LMFAO

well someone doesn't know a lot about basketball.

First off, to call that a dream team is a discrace to everyone who was on the original dream team. Please don't insult the name again.

Secondly not only was the team cocky (NO NOT confident, Lebron was the only confident one in the Strating line up) but the fans thought they won the tournament before it began.

I couldn't care less that the US lost, it's people like you that make me feel like I have to explain what happened.

For anyone who is happy about the US loss and is rubbing it in your face has a good reason. That may not be very sportsman like and they are probably wrong but to be fair the US fans are by far the worst. Before the tournament even started the US thought that they had it won (I know I said that 2ce but o well). And even now that you lost you still feel that you have the "dream team". News flash when you have a dream team you usually get first place.... not 3rd or 4th.

Again I couldn't care less about the US loss and I'm not rubbing it in your face, I'm just reminding you that you were unsportsman like when the tournament began and now that you lost it's the world turn to get pay back.

The thing that pisses me off the most is cocky people like you who can't handle to lose. And when the do they cry & bi*** about how everyone is making a big deal about it. My advice to you is... CRY ABOUT IT (don't complain about it just cry) and the next time don't be so cocky and the loss won't hurt that bad.

i've always been wary of single elimination games since a more superior team can have an off night and lose....given the less accurate shooting percentages of the usa team their loss of only 6 points was an indication of their superior talent...they were outshot 62 to 50 percent and only sank 59% from the free throw line...i really think fiba should change the single elimination format for the semis and finals so fluke winners would be more far-fetched...best of three would make the americans probable winners in their recent losses in the international scene

Greece has some warriors, so if we are going to loose to anybody, I'd a said it would be them. I agree with you. Of course the ones talking all crazy are probably kids anyway who don't really know much about the sport yet.
