How can someone's idle time be longer than their online time on AIM?

when i move my cursor over some peoples screen names, it says:
Screenname223:
Online Time: 45 minutes
Away Time: 58 minutes
how and why is this?

Because maybe their computer lost it's connection while they were away so it logged them off, but automatically reconnected when the connection returned, and kept them Away. My computer does this a lot. Retarted, I know.

maybe they stepped away from their PC but left the Internet up

It is entirely possible that their computer has been reprogramed by a hacker.
