Personally I think many of the celebs are two young to be recieving such large salraies. Many of them are not that mature and just spend there money on the most ridiculous things like have diamond plated cell phones and all of that type of non sense while others struggle just to see the next day.

Not really, especially professional athletes.

When the city or state underwrites the cost of the stadium, that does take available resources away from needs, which some athletes foster by their own irresponsible behaviors.

I'm glad that you asked this because that has come to my mind more than once. No, I don't think that they are but there's not a thing I can do to change it. It gets on my nerves when I see Tyra Banks in a $55,000 dress at the Emmy Awards complimented by $3 million earrings. My daughters and I could live a comfortable life for the rest of our life of that one night's outfit. But I'm not hating on Tyra because I'm glad to see a black woman cashing in on some of that money that's been out there for others to get. Also, take a look at these athletes who get multi million dollar contracts for playing a sport but we have people starving on the streets in the USA. There are young people who want to go to college but can't afford to do so while a celeb or pro athlete can have a million dollar watch or a $500,000 shoe collection. What the F? It's madness I tell you but this all made possible by us as a nation. We are so caught up in being rich and famous that we make those that are famous richer with each movie, tabloid, and product sell. There...I've vented...Now I feel better.

When the NFL owners are making millions and people like Dan Snyder (owner of Redskins) are making billions, shouldn't the athletes get their cut? After all, can you play football that well? If so, just try to be "Invincible" (the football movie out where an ordinary guy tries out for a team). You'll appreciate their skill and art. As I was saying, in the overall picture, athletes don't get a fractions some lazy *** old dude does for owning a team. People pay to watch the players, not the owners. Why do owners make so much? Think about it. Same with musicians. They make an average of .10 for each record they sell. In my opinion, that is crooked and dishonest. Would you like .10 on a $15.99 CD? Besides, most aren't as rich as they portray themselves to me. You think all those rappers and bling blingers out there really can afford that stuff? They are in debt. Look at what happened to Elton John, Mc Hammer, and others. Will happen to this new crop as well.

Compensation is based on what others are willing to pay, not the difficulty or level of exertion of the work. If movie studios are willing to pay top stars over $10 million for a movie, it's based on them expecting to earn more than that back in revenue for the movie. While we may feel that they don't deserve this money, is it reasonable to expect them to turn it down? In addition, movie studios paying movie stars these kinds of dollars has little to nothing to do with how money is spent for services for the poor, disabled, etc.

I dont think professional atheletes and celebs are worth the millions that they earn do do need to be paid properly but some of them are excessively paid, however we could not do without them because life would be dull and boring.

1. When tickets to games are absurdly high, I watch TV.

2. It does tell me that there is a lot of gambling going on out there, when someone is making that much. People are betting on games.

3. They will only be getting those salaries until the fans boycott.

I really don't think that they are. Just because they can play a sport better than someone else or pretend (act) to be someone other than who they are, why should they make that obscene amount of money. Its to bad that they don't give part of that money to help worth the problems of the world more.

i dont think anyone deserves to earn that much money, especially not celebrities, their work isn't any harder than the average joe's, and they get to take many more vacation days a year than any working person I know! as for athletes who are breaking their bodies, while that is admirable, it is just as physically trying to work in construction 7 days a week, or lift heavy objects on the job. im not impressed by these celebrities and athletes.
