Yukon = June 13, 1898
Gold Rush = 1897

For the first part of your question, it depends. If you believe that the Vikings were the first Europeans to reach Canada, which is still (to my knowledge) up for debate, it is 1100s or so (if I remember right). Otherwise its the late 1400s early 1500s.
