My bf and my family do not get along I am in the middle and both sides won't budge, it is hard because me and my bf live in one state and my family live in another about 4 hours away so we don't see each other too often as it is, and when they are not getting along it is really hurting me. What can I do to fix the situation?

Okay a few more details to help out with the advice, first of all I am not leaving my bf we have been together for many years and just because we don't have a marrige cert. doesn't mean (in our hearts) that we are not married, we just bought our dream house together, and I am not leaving him.
Secondly, this all started because my brother punched out our windsheild and won't pay for it and my family thinks my bf is over-reacting, which he is not if I break someones things( I don't care who you are or what you have done) I will pay for it.
And my family thinks that my bf wants respect (which is true) but won't give it (which is not true) he gives respect to anyone who deserves and earns it.

It's soluble in water easily.

Why do they not get along? Did your bf make the wrong first impression? Does your family feel like your bf is getting all of your attention?

You need to figure why they don't like each other in the first place before anything can be resolved. This information can easily be obtained by just asking your bf and your family.

If this whole problem began because of a misunderstanding, then your bf and family should apologize to each other. Tell your bf and family that it's really important to you that they at least try to get along because their bickering is really hurting you.

You, your bf and your family should spend one day together doing something you all love-- go to the park and play a sport, watch a movie, go camping, go to the beach, etc...

Seeing as how you both live far away from your family, you could alternatively ask your boyfriend to try to make the first move and do something nice for your family, like sending a card saying he wishes everyone well.

Those little acts of kindness can go a long way. Good luck!

Sooner or later youre going to have to chose between them. Now your family was, is and always will be your "stable security" no matter what. While your b/f is exactly that and could be gone tomorrow and what are you left with. Now if you were married,it be a little different as youre expected to stand by your man no matter what. But in the end, you will always have your family. Youre just lucky you have the mileage between them so you dont have to deal with this daily, but since you are with your b/f then side with him to keep the peace for now and let things work out for themselves.

See your family without your boyfriend's presence. Unless you think your family is wrong. In which case talk to them about it. If they won't budge you will have to stop seeing them. Be careful about your boyfriend though. If he stubbornly won't budge and you think he's being unreasonable then he may be that way with you in the future. Hard to say wihout knowing what started the problem.
