Before you know it she wont be drinking from a bottle or wanting to rub your face, cherish this time as it goes by fast.I understand she is heavy so when its bottle time prop her on a pillow and put a blanket under the bottle and lay next to her that way she feels you are still there but your arms are not getting tired. The fact that she was a preemie effects her milestones but she will get there and pass it before you know it.She might like the sippy cup or maybe the sports bottle kind with a straw so she doesnt have to tip it back she can just sit and drink, most babies can learn to drink through a straw very early,my son was 6 month and another was 10 months so im sure she would have no problem.

Awe.....how sweet! It sounds to me like she is really enjoying her cuddle time with momma! I'd suggest that you try to enjoy it while it lasts! How sweet that she strokes your face.....she's too busy loving on momma to worry about holding that silly bottle!
I'm assuming that she is eating solid foods at some point in her day at this age, right? So why not introduce a sippy cup to her then and let her practice getting a drink for herself at mealtimes. When she is ready she'll decide to hold it all the time.

I work with 0-2 year olds every day. If you really want her to start to hold her own bottle try putting her on a bean bag and just put the bottle in her mouth and rest it on her chest, if she doest put her hands on it to lift it give her a little support by placing her hands on the bottle and support her hands to lift the bottle up, but dont do this for any longer than a few seconds. If she is thirsty she will lift the bottle up.

She'll get the hang of it. Does she at least try sometimes? My son is a 19 month old preemie (16 months adjusted) and he was about 14.5 -15 months when he started holding it on his own. And if you're going to try the sippe cup, I would suggest the Playtex ones. Those are great!
God Bless :)

Why don't you put the bottle in front of her when you know she's really thirsty that way she'll try to hold it, that's what my pediatrician told me to do. Although, I haven't tried it yet. Oh, and your daughter is very beautiful- lucky Mommy. I have a 13 month year old too- Baby Brandon.

My son is also 10 months adjusted, and we're having the same problem. His therapist told me it's OK for now if he holds my hands while I hold the bottle for now.
Here's a position that works for us:
I've been sitting him on my left leg, supporting his back with my left arm, and putting my left hand on top of his on the bottle. My right hand goes over his right hand on the bottle as well. It helps to have a pillow or two under the baby holding elbow. Sometimes I can get both of his hands under my right hand, and then use all of my left arm for baby support.
You may also want to try playing games that put her hands out in front of her... a round plastic lid makes a great "steering wheel". Carson loves sitting in my lap with my hands helping him hold the lid in front of him- we turn the steering wheel and I lean in that direction as if we're turning and make "vroom vroom" sounds. It strengthens his arms and makes him giggle, too!

my daughter wasn't early or anything, but i started her holding her own with a bottle that had handles. i found it at walmart. it was by nuby i do believe. a sippy cup may work if she can drink from a cup. good luck on you little girl. just remember, soon enough, she will be off and running and you'll wish she wasn't as active yet. *smiles*

My lil girl is 10 months also, She is holding her bottle, someone suggested those Nuby cups with handles, those work excellent. You can find them at Walmart. My lil girl had no problem hold her baba at all. Im sure your lil one is just adjusting, I wouldnt worry too much, Once and a while my lil girl wants me to hold her and feed her baba to her too, so I guess it all depends on the baby. Good luck!

I also have a a million twelve months old at abode and that they do exactly issues on their very own time like retaining a bottle on thier own. My son at 6 months might lay on his back and attempt to fig it out. you could attempt that in case you wanted.
