Well the best things to get are things that can be treasured. You can possibly get friends hip bracelets and/or chains with charmes. You have one half she has the other. Some perfume, earrings, or a gift card to her favorite store. One place you might find something at but could be a little expensive but worth it is at Things Remembered.

Try a picture she has never seen blown up and put into a special picture frame. Take her out to a special place for dinner or lunch.
A dinner train ride that has entertainment or a lunch or dinner boat excursion. Take a grayhound bus to a nearby city so you can laugh and talk, and leave the driving to them.
A limo ride where you and a few other friends are together with some snacks & champagne.

get her something over the top in the area of something she's always wanted.
my best friend is a big shopper and once someone got her a gift certificate to the mall for $80 and she was over the moon. . .
also --whatever you get her, make her something --a cake or cookies or brownies or something.
