You are such a negative person. We will not stay in war for 30 years, we never have & we will go through at least 4 - 7 presidents during that time. The UN has agreed to leave peace keeping troops mostly from Europe to help keep the elected leaders in office. A new election in Iraq could change things but no one will know until a new election happens. Freedom & Democracy has never been free to any nation icluding the United States. George Washington had 17,000 troups & lost 4,435 plus 6,188 (most would not have survived due to lack of antibiotic & health care). % wise the cost for US freedom was greater than most including Iraq. Read history & stop making it up.

If we don't get out of Iraq well before 30 years go by then you should be more concerned about the fate of the USA. Because at that point this country will be nothing left but a dried-up husk.
If you understood the relationship between interventionism and the draining of the treasury/economy you would be screaming for US to get out now
If I invaded your home, wrecked it, shot several members of your family/household and then claimed that I must stick around until everything is ok in your house again (while you are still living there) would you be fine with this or would you demand that I get the hell out of there? If you were able to put yourself in the shoes of those you advocate meddling with, then you would have a clue.

Hopefully they will have freedom and be a peaceful democracy but I do think they will probably have the same animosity that has been there for so long. Yes, I do not think we can just pack up and leave until they have a decent chance to achieve the democracy that they (and coalition forces) want.

Fifty three years after the Korean war , the US still has 37,000 troops guarding the border between the North and South .400,000 US soldiers were deployed to Japan AFTER the war , they stayed 6.5 years. " In post war Germany SS officers called werewolves engaged in sabotage and attacked both coalition forces and locals cooperating with them, much like today's Ba'athist , Al-Quada and Fedayeen in post-Saddam Iraq.It takes a time to establish the kind of republics that have emerged in Germany and Japan.Conrad Crane, director of the U.S. Army Military History Institute said "The devastation of Korea was phenomenal Iraq's infrastructure is in much better shape than Korea's after the war." And yet South Korea is no longer under communist rule.. You act as if no other country has gone through the fight for freedom..Be Real....

I am sorry to say, but I don't believe America will last 10 years in Iraq. The American economy wont with stand the costs, since the Bush budget is 98% military right now with overrun costs that will run for 30 years presently. Why do you think all of the neocons are always screaming about nuking the area for morbid. They are completely aware of Americas economic standing, we are bankrupt with the Bush administration right now. All of our labor for the most part has been outsourced to Communist slave labor as it is already. There isn't any more squeezing of the pie, we are strapped max city.

NO and NO
We will not pull out in 30 years. Did we pull out of the Spanish American War WWI WWII Korea
And No there will never be peace in the Mideast. Those people have been chopping each others heads off for at least 5500 years. As long as we have a written history.
They will never stop.

We built at least 4 bases in Iraq, and the largest embassy in the world (in the green zone), so I don't think there is still an intention or plan that the US will withdraw all of its troops. I think the people will elect at least 2 Muslim dictators for the 2 theocracies that result.

We'll begin troop removal in 2007. In 2008, probably around August, we'll have most of the troops home, except for the ones deployed at the permanent Army base and Air Force base built at the "request" of the Iraqi government.
Hey, look at that, just in time for elections!

After 30 years there will be no alternative but to leave Iraq because by that time there wouldn't be much oil left in that region.
