Don't get me wrong about the video card choice - notice I choose a mobo that has crossfire support so when the ATI X1950XTX comes out I will surely want to buy that. But for now all I need is a budget GPU.
Do you think the ram is overkill? Also I am not looking for any kindof RAID setup so I also need a reliable, large HD. I also have a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card that has not been used, and that is why I chose an Intel chipset over nForce4. Any suggestions/comments?

Yes well as you can probably imagine I am into heavy gaming and music creation, that type of thing.

It's a little pricey for my taste, but it seems like an excellent setup to me. I have a suggestion: get a 1.5 ghz processor to save money for a better gpu and after you get it you can overclock it to make it a 2 ghz processor. Just remember to buy a good cooling fan.

Well, from this setup it looks like your goal is to get every frame out of those games possible. You can spend a lot less and get a machine that will play all the current games. I would go with a midrange processor, like a dual core athlon x2, and less expensive RAM. Save more money for an SLI config with 2 decent nvidia based cards. Maybe Radeon tends to have a slight edge, but are you trying to win a framerate contest, or get a good gaming experience?

Definitely a decent setup. I like the motherboard, but I don't touch Radeon. I've got quite a few friends/customers that have had some terrible issues with their Radeon cards. The RAM is good, especially if you plan on keeping it for awhile and install Vista when it comes out. As for HD's, I stick with Western Digital and Seagate. Out of all the HD's I've bought, all my Western digitals and Seagates still work. what games you play?? I play Doom 3, ROE, Q4, and F.E.A.R. as DarkWolf. Hope to see ya!;)

Forget that NEC burner. Get a Liteon SHM-165H6S DVD burner. It may not be the fastest, but I never owned a better drive. Use CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD by Slysoft to copy movies with the newest protections and SafeDisc 3 protected DVD's and CD's with CloneCD. It can burn the DVD +/- R9 DVD's so you can copy a movie just like it is on the original. Don't get a Toshiba DVD burner, I had one and it wouldn't copy anything.

You seem very conservative when it come to motherboard.Intel chip set is very stable, but boring for extreme gaming.

so, you should have said what you plan to do with the system? It's a lot of box to run email.

I would just get value-select ram unless you want to do overclocking.
