This is actually legislative issue up to congress to pass as a bill and the president to sign or veto. An extension of DST was a part of the 2005 energy policy act signed by Bush about a year ago. Starting in 2007, DST will begin the second Sunday in March instead of the first Sunday in April and will end on the first Sunday in November instead of the last Sunday in October. Why they don't try to make DST start and stop symmetrically around the solstices (like say, last Sunday in Feb to last Sunday in October would be close) is a mystery to me. . . .

First, Bush has to learn that when the big hand is on 12 and the little hand is on 3, it's 3 o'clock. Once he figures that out, daddy will teach him about digital watches. Can't wait to see him try to figure out how to divide by 60 -- he'll have to have the entire Cabinet take off their shoes.
