My wife and I are planning to conceive soon.

This will be the first grandbaby and great grandbaby for both sides of the family.

My wife still has three grandparents alive who live several states away.

We won't be seeing them in person.

How should we tell them my wife is expecting?

Should we call and then send a card with a sonogram picture?

Should we just send a card with a sonogram picture?

Should we tell my wife's parents and let them call the grandparents while we are with them?

How is this suppose to work?

Thanks

when you wife is good and pregnant, just pick up the phone and tell your paretns. Same for her side.
Sending a card to your own family about an arrival is cheesy in my mind.
This should only be conveyed by talking to them. Let them decide if you should talk to the grandparents or if they will do it.
This is much more personal and sincere than a card.

My advise would be not to tell anyone until your wife is a good three or 4 months pregnant. that way if anything was to happen (God forbid) then you would not be getting everyones hopes up. Some people are realyl creative and some people just send cards and some put the sonogram in. If i was the grandparents I would love to see the sonogram of the first grandchild. And maybe by that time you might know the sex of the baby. If you do a card just say something like:

Brad and Angolinawould like to inform you that they are expecting their first child, your granchild on March 28th 2014.

That is my good idea lol.

I think I'd call first and then send a sonogram pic. They will want to hear it from your voice if they can't in person, and they'll be excited to talk to you about it. Then, when they get the picture, they'll know exactly what it is and be happy to have it.

even although you at the instant are not at the same time, i think of it is maximum suitable for the toddler to be responsive to and bond with this is father. the reality you reside 3 hours away isn't valuable, yet i think of you're able to attempt and manage some style of plan with the daddy e.g one weekend he drives down and the subsequent you force or another weekend as this is a protracted holiday. you probable sense indignant which you went by way of being pregnant on my own, in spite of the shown fact that this is concerning to the infant and the daddy having a relationship it is substantial now, notwithstanding in case you don't get alongside with the daddy. in spite of the shown fact that, if the daddy treats you badly or the infant badly then i might wager you could restriction get entry to. i don't be responsive to if there are rules on that or something you it is beneficial to seek it.

It depends on how close you are to them. If not that close then just send the card. I'm really close to my grandparents so I would definitely call them and send a card.

I like the card idea. Go to Hallmark they have a lot of good cards to get the message across, make sure it is something meaningful! Good Luck

We sent an obituary for the Rabbit to my family in another state. Most everyone caught it and those who didn't were told by those who did. Grandparents would remember the reference to the "Rabbit died".

What keeps you from calling the grandparents?
Tell them...almost sounds like you are afraid.
