Depends on the amount of foot traffic. In downtown chicago there are coffee shops on every corner with Starbucks mixed in. People will not (always) walk an extra block to hit the SB.

Not many but there's a coffee shop called Munch near me and it's relatively close to a Starbucks, they have a unique atmosphere and serve food are open late and it's a very nice relaxing enviroment.
