YES, but only if you're going for the high end $599 system which has memory card readers and the all important HDMI output which will truly enable you to enjoy what the system is trying to hardsell to people..HIGH DEFINITION CONTENT.

No way. Mark my words. The games WILL be more expensive because they MUST be on BlU-RAY. The machine is no more powerful than the X-Box 360. Each can do something SLIGHTLY better than the other. Nothing we will notice as far as graphics are concerned. No one has a 1080p TV and video almost always looks better at 720 anyway. So dont waste your money on a piece of crap machine with proprietary software. Remember Beta, UMB, Minidisc. All Sony products that failed because they tried to force the market to use thier proprietary format. Get a WII if you wanna get something different, or get an X-Box 360 if you wanna do some hardcore gaming that has a stellar online service.

in case you actually like the video games that were released for the PS3 and prefer to play on-line, then that is nicely actually worth the money. imagine about it. The Xbox is more effective extreme priced because you need to pay for Xbox stay ($50 each and every year), the entire fee of possession is going above the PS3. An extra function with the PS3 is the ability to play Blu-rays.

Yes, it will be a powerful machine. Probably faster than your PC.
Both versions will include Blu-ray Disc™ the latest in high-definition* video, Bluetooth, four USB ports, 1080p video, and the advanced microprocessor, the Cell Broadband Engine™. The difference between them, however, is that the $599 system includes HDMI**, Memory Stick/SD/CompactFlash slots, Wi-Fi***, and a 60GB hard disk drive (HDD), whereas the $499 system comes with a 20GB HDD.

why not buy a computer. Computers are the present and future of gaming, plus they are capable of so much more. If you have the extra $ go for it, but I'd wait till the core duo 2 chips are available with vista early next year. The processing and graphic possibilities will make a jump to the next level.

I would have to be in the "No" catagory on this one. For a bit more money you can have a real computer that can do so much more than a PS3.

No. Neither is XBOX 360. Keep what you got until the prices drop more. They want you to think it's great, but in reality it stinks.
