I have noticed recently that more and more teenagers are using their mobile phones mp3 capabilites to play their music.
This in itself is obviously fine, but I'm wondering why they also think it's appropriate to listen it on public transport without headphones over the mobile's speakers?
Why do they not see this is rude? Nobody else wants to listen to somebody elses 'possibly' rubbish taste in music.

Just for the record I'm 25 so missed the ghetto blasters!
I find it annoying but am genuinely interested in why some kids do it! Is it really a lack of social skills or do they genuinely feel like it's some sort of statement?
Kind of a constant soundtrack for their lives or something?

hi!!
i'm 14 and i was on the bus the other day and these two young girls had the same damn song on repeat and it was so annoying, i personally prefere mp3 players, WITH headphones, because i know that if it annoys me when other peaple do that its gunna annoy other people if i were to do it, so i simply don't do it!

Just another in a long line of tactics to annoy the general public. Be thankful no one carries around boom boxes anymore.

They listen to it on loudspeaker because they want to show off the limited amount they have, they could easily lower the volume and move the phone closer to their ears if they dont have head phones with them, if i were you, i'd tell them to put it down, you never know it may just work!

Posturing. The same reason people drive around with the windows down and the stereo blasting.

I'm a teenager, but would never do that. I find it very annoying aswell, its so rude and inconsiderate. If I were braver I would complain to them.
