I have been acting since a young age, i have done modelling and done a varity of musical concepts. All the credible success.
Although still at school i continue to apply for auditions to get on to TV, Radio etc to raise the knowledge of myself. Howver i done have a showreel or anything like that & my parents arnt exactly the most confident in me. What i want to know is, what should i be doing to make my break through & how to do it?

It sounds like you are doing exactly what you should be doing -- working!

Getting a "break" usually means some kind of luck. But, if you could be pro-active with a project, something you could push then you might have a better chance.

So many actors, dancers, singers are really just tools of someone else's vision so they play a passive role in their career -- working and hoping to be 'discovered'.

Promote yourself -- get yourself out there (do commercials and benefits) -- and remember, you do it because you love it!

By the way, benefits are great. I did a benefit for AIDS one time and met some stars and the woman who produced it insisted that I get introduced to everyone -- since we were all working for a cause it was not like it was political.

Break a leg!

Make sure you have have the best acting training you can get where you live. Do as much theater as you can.

When you in a production, send your resume (so they can see what you have been doing) to all of the talent agents in your city and invite them to the play. Keep performing and training.

If you want to work in New York City, you need a lot of theater preferably, with lead roles, on your resume.

If you live near a large city audition and get roles at the major theaters in that city.

Big breaks are often a long time in coming. Just continue to do what you're doing.
