I know lots of people come here and bash on us, telling us we're sick and wrong. Of course the natural human response is to get hurt, angry and we try to debate our rights. We all want to stand up for ourselves, and we can't help but get defensive sometimes by insulting the person right back (you know what i'm talking about...the ones that come to our forum just to insult and bash us).So here's my question for you .Do you think that debating and insulting the enemy will change their minds?Calling them stupid right back will maybe see that they're wrong? Or do you think that it's only going to provoke their hate?Personally, I'm done debating.I belive that the only thing that will change people is their own peronal experiences, not us fighting them and insulting them right back. You know who you all are deep inside your hearts. I know it sucks when people put you down, but you don't really have to prove yourself to anyone.Just be a kind person and be true to yourself. Kill em with kindness

Maybe something bad has happened to these people that has made them this way. Why not just be our sweet selves and keep smiling, instead of reinforcing this behaviour with negative attention, it's still attention. Not everyone can feel that they can truly be themselves, have the perfect life and partner, which is a terrible feeling. Just a thought : )

I LOVE THE WAY YOU THINK!!!!! This is truely a great message for us all. It's so hard and I know that I'm one that will sometimes go off on a rant over something that someone has said that is highly and horribly offensive. But you are absolutely right and I think I'm going to follow in your footsteps. Debating is pointless because most people only hear what they want to hear. That was a great thing you said!!!!

I would have to say I agree with a lot of what you have stated. Someone asked a similar question awhile back, and I responded something like this.
When I respond to the haters, to the bashers and the willfully ignorant, I am not really responding to them...i am responding to the people who are reading the question and my posts. I am showing that you can come from a place of strength within yourself and it's okay to stand up for yourself and what you believe in. I know that there is a very slim (slim to none) chance that I will ever get through to these types of people.....but I remember what it was like for me when I first came out, and I remember feeling that I would never be strong enough to speak my mind when someone set out to deliberately hurt me.
I just want others to see that you can speak up. If for no other reason than so that others can see they aren't alone.
You have a very sweet and generous spirit. I know it shoud be live and let live...but I'm not really caring so much about the asker, as I am all the others who are responding.

I admit some days I just lose my cool. I really try to answer kindly and be informative rather than insulting or skip the bashings that lack any question but some days it's just too much and I just can't be the better person.

We don't need to get touchy about subjects at all. I have been like that but, I changed that part about me and I know it's just another person behind the screen. I don't retain what ignorant people say any more. It's a part of life experience.

I've had to shut my mouth for too many years. I'm not going back to that. If someone gets in my face they better be ready for a fight whether it's with words for fist. I'm not trying to be a gay representative who is always trying to be a token. I'm a person with heart regardless of sexual orientation. I love the phrase "Don't Tread On Me".

Very well stated.
In the end they will have to justify themselves for the things that they have done on this earth. They tend to forget that sometimes I think when they display their hatred towards any community.

"no one can put locks or bars on your mind"
nothing we SAY will change their minds. nobody wants to be wrong. one day, something will happen that will redeem us in their eyes. circumstances or one extraordinary person can change the world. whiners cant change it. if things are meant to change, they will. maybe we are just meant to be strong, yet suppressed people. it isn't good to ignore people who see homosexuals as bad. that's just putting your head down and letting them see your shame. you cant bite back either. that will fuel their distaste. but you simply need to lift your head above them and show that you know who you are and you are proud to be that person. words aren't always needed.
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world" -Gandhi.

if you are confronted with people who have nothing else better to do with their lives than to bash others, look behind you - your friends, family and everyone who is just like you are there to support you!
we're here! and we will report anyone who abuse this board.

I see it as a "defense mechanism" that insecure people have. It is their own problem and they shouldn't make it ours.
