I work in a hospital (non-clinical but fairly savvy) Not asking them because I don't want any hovering & yes I'll see my doc if it happens again.

I'm quite fit but for a few moments, both vision & hearing faded. I kept breathing normally & had no pain or discomfort, remained calm, and the whole episode cleared within about thirty to forty seconds.

Stress levels are slightly elevated due to circumstance, but not too badly & it felt almost like I was about to faint, only without any panic or distress. It's got me baffled & it's never happened before.

What might cause these symptoms? I just had my annual physical & passed with flying colors. It was strange & I also wonder if it's happened to anyone else?

Thank you in advance for anything you have to offer in response.

No, I'm definitely not pregnant & I wasn't doing anything unusual. I was actually sitting at my desk & answering a phone call. Just sat down, picked up phone, dealt with the difficulty, hung up...& it happened.

I have had a few migraines in the past but was never initiated by symptoms like this. It's disconcerting.

Also, my temperature is normal & I'm not ill. Pulse & respiration are also normal, but I can't check blood pressure, though it's probably a little high today but not out of normal range.

It happened 4 hours ago & has not repeated.

That has happened to me a couple times. My vision starting going black, first around the edges and slowly moving towards the center. My ears started ringing and then roaring. I get like that when I haven't eaten and do alot of physical work. Or, if my sugar level gets too low. I am not diabetic but everyone's sugar drops from time to time. When I did clinicals at the hospital I carried a pack of crackers or a candy bar in my pocket because not eating and working in the warmth of the hospital could cause me to do it.

You didn't mention what you were doing when this occurred. If you were standing from a sitting or lying position, it could have been a blood pressure situation. It could also be some sort of a seizure activity. You also didn't mention if this was the first time or there have been other episodes of this occurring. If it's been a while since it's happened and you are still feeling fine, I wouldn't really worry about it, but, if it's happened more than once, I'd make an appointment with your doctor and get it checked out.

These could be symptoms of an absence seizure.

Of course, just in general I sometimes feel this way due to simple stress. If it happened only occassionally and you've had a recent physical, I would just try to remove some stress from my life and move on.

Take care!

I have those symptoms on occasion, but for me they are always a precursor to a migraine headache.
