If you have a VCR that can receive the channels, yes.

I set my VCR to Chanel A1 and as long as I am watching the programme that i want to record on to a tape then just start VCR up.if you change channels on the TV I'm afraid it will record whatever you have changed it to
What I do is record it on sky + then when I know i don't want to watch anything then I start the VCR and start the Sky + recording .make sure VCR is on A1 as i said at the beginning and then you can switch the t.v.off as long as both recordings are running . This may sound daft but if you read this slowly again and have a go I am sure by trial and error you will make it work Good luck

Yes it is.

Although the TV signal may be digital, it is often converted to analogue by the "set top box" so that it can be fed to a normal analogue TV and video recorder.

It is also possible to buy digital hard disc recorders and even digital TV's which do not need any set top boxes to convert the incoming digital signal.
