I don't see why you can't have some sort of chair or stool or something you can sit on while you are behind the counter. I am familiar with Zellers and you are right the electronic department isn't that busy. Talk to your bosses and let them know how you feel I am sure that they will help you out.
Zellers was voted one of the best employers to work for in Canada.
It is safe to work through your pregnancy. your body is used to it. Just make sure to rest when you can, as for Christmas talk with your doctor and your boss and see what you can't work out.

It is safe to work, as long as your doctor says it is. You should definitely ask your doctor, because each woman is an individual case. In general, it is safe to work throughout pregnancy, unless you are working with chemicals, being shoved around, or lifting heavy objects
Standing is not going to kill you, or seriously damage your health, but it can cause spider veins. Pregnant women are already prone to getting spider veins and varicose veins, because the hormones make your veins less strong and make your legs swell, and the baby adds pressure . This is not a serious disease, but it does not look nice at all, and it can cause problems with blood clots later in life.so it may not be a bad idea to ask your boss to let you have a chair when you get larger.
Even better idea- walk around if you can- no need to run a marathon , but try walking around the shelves, when customers need something that's not heavy to lift volunteer to get it. Walking gets your blood pumping and keeps your veins and heart he healthy. Also, wear supportive stockings (they look exactly like normal socks and pantyhose and are not too expensive). When you get home, soak your feet in cold water and you'll be fine.
If your health permits it, try to work through Christmas time, especially if you work on commission. When the baby gets there, you will need lots of money, so try saving some money now.

as long as you have no complications during your pregnancy, women work up to the time they have to deliver (ok, some do). The worst you are going to feel is more tired and swollen ankles. Maybe the boss will let you sit for a few minutes at a time every couple of hours if the swelling in your legs gets too much. Good luck!

I had the same problem. My doctor gave me whats called a light duty waiver. He restricted me to 10 lbs lifting, pulling or pushing. He also put in the note that I needed a chair and water with me. Some employers will be more understanding than others. Mine actually sent me out on maternity leave at 6 months. Talk to your doctor and see what he has to say....all pregnancies are different. Mine caused me alot of back problems because of the excess weight gain. I started my pregnancy at 135lbs and delivered at 209lbs. If your not gaining too much, you should be fine....but like I said talk to your doctor, he'll help decide what best for you and your baby.

I worked standing up till i was 5 months pregnant. that is when the weight really gets to your legs and ankles. my legs would go numb and my back would hurt like crazy. by law ( california) you have a right to sit when you are pregnant. Another idea and what I did because i was to scared to ask for a chair. I would put one foot up on a shelf or a chair next to me and alternate feet. you can get veracose veins in your legs while you are pregnant. You need circulation throughout your body to supply your baby with aduquate blood.

you have to go by how you personally feel.
there's no reason you can't be on your feet that much, however, to someone who isn't used to it, it would bother them.

i worked retail for many years and i could have gone my whole pregnancy on my feet except for maybe the past few weeks. as the baby gets heavier and lower i can't walk as quickly and i can't bend over very well.

as for the busy season. do what you can.

i've known many moms who work their regular jobs right until the end. i'm due anyday now and i'm still at work.
my sister is a nurse (talk about on your feet and being busy) and she worked right up til the end.

basically it's all about how YOU feel at work and what your dr feels is good for you.

take care.

you should really ask your doctor that, i wouldn't think that it would be a problem, a lot of women work through their pregnancy weather they sit or stand. let them know what is more comfortable for you i am sure they will work with ya. good luck and congrats!!

If you have concerns consult your doctor and follow his/her guidelines. He/she may want to monitor your blood pressure on a regular basis and if he see's any changes or anything abnormal he/she will cut back your physical activity drastically.
