No. But why? Just take five minutes to install anti-virus and spyware checking and then you don't have to worry about it. Better then the 2 hours it takes to install XP - and the how many more hours it take to do SP2 and all the updates and security patches. It would take you a good two days to do a complete reinstall. You want to do that weekly??? Why???

Check for spyware. Run both Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and Skybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) to remove any spyware. Run both as one may caught something the other missing. Then go to microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections. All three are free.

Download and run AVG virus scanner from http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg71free_405a782.exe for free

Reformat? Like you reinstall XP every week? You might need to rephrase the question.

the best way to stop this is update your windows patches using http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com secondly to stop spyware attacking you pc you must get windows defender from microsoft which is frfee for genuine windows
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&displaylang=en

if you dont have a genuine windows you can still protect you pc from malicious spyware from Grisoft

i dont think it can dammage it, but isnt it a pain to have to start over and lose everything over and over again. It's easier just to get protection.. get AVG antivirus, its great and its free. And get ad-aware to get rid of the spyware etc.

No, it won't damage anything, your hardware doesn't know any difference.

However, reformatting once a week is a bit extreme, don't you think?
