Before You Buy Stainless Steel Cleaner
From Sarah Aguirre,
Your Guide to Housekeeping.
Stainless steel is a great surface choice for many people looking for a sanitary and easy to clean metal. Using stainless steel on appliances and for sinks has become commonplace in new homes. Many companies are developing special stainless steel cleaners to be used on the new surfaces. Here is what you need to know before you buy a stainless steel cleaner.
Try easier cleaning options for stainless steel.
Try using just plain water and a clean cloth. If that isn't as effective, try a mild detergent like dishwashing liquid. Glass cleaner can be great to remove smudges and fingerprints. Try these easy and less risky methods first. You may find you don't need a separate stainless steel cleaner.
Read the directions for the stainless steel cleaner
Read the directions thoroughly before using. Even if the directions don’t say so, it’s a good idea to try the product in a hidden spot first so that you can see the results. The directions will also give you a better idea of how much of the stainless steel cleaner you’ll need to use.
Check the ingredients in the stainless steel cleaner.
Make sure that the cleaner contains no chlorine. Chlorine is a natural enemy to stainless steel and came damage the surface easily. A different ingredient that is a better choice is ammonia. Cleaners with abrasive ingredients can scratch and damage the finish of your stainless steel. Remember to check out other methods to clean stainless steel, and to test new products in a hidden spot for results.
5 Stainless Steel Mistakes
Don't blame the stainless steel cleaner.
Water with mineral deposits (hard water) can cause staining and water spots to form on stainless steel. It’s a good idea to dry your stainless steel surfaces with a towel after rinsing. When these areas form, people usually suspect the cleaner, but it may be their water.

go to the store and get a little bottle of lemon oil.. put some on a small soft rag wipe it on all over going in the same direction.. then take another soft towel and wipe it off. it will take all the finger prints and everything off of the front of the stainless steel refrig.. works good in your sinks too. plus it smells good.
a tiny bottle will last a very long time..
we used this when cleaning houses.

Windex or similar glass cleaner.
We have a stainless steel oven set and warming drawer. That is what was recommended and has worked very well.

wash cloth with warm soapy water - not the scouring pad - they also make stainless steel polish - you can probably get it at a restaurant supply house.
