I'm writing a story can you help me with a bit of research?

The story includes a guy who finds out his girlfriend (they've gone "all the way") is engaged to a mob boss. My questions to all you Guys: would you forgive her? would you continue the relationship secretly?

Personally, I wouldn't, but I can hold a grudge if I feel strongly enough for years. That kind of deception would really hurt.
