i have 3 red bellied piranhas in a 55 gallon tank and i had an upside down and and a cory catfish in there but they were recently eaten now that the piranhas are getting older and have a better taste for meat...i was wondering what type of catfish i can get, if any, that can go with piranhas (i keep the piranhas well fed)

Personally, I don't think there is any fish that you can keep with piranhas without them being eaten. Piranhas will also eat their own kind. In a school of piranha, the weak ones or sick ones are attacked and eaten. Survival of the fittest.

Large oscars actually live in the same areas in the wild as piranha and manage to survive. In a closed environment such as an aquarium, I doubt if they would stand a chance. The spot on the tail of the oscars actually evolved to act as a deterrent to "sneak up from behind predators" like piranha.

A huge pleco may have a better chance, but his fins would probably be eaten right down to the body. Looks like you are going to have to do your own clean-up.

I would get rid of the piranhas (I did) and fill your 55 with Malawi cichlids (I also did). They are much more interesting and although agressive, they can be manipulated into semi-agression if you know what you are doing.

With any aggressive fish or in the case of piranha, skittish fish, you will have way better luck with a bigger tank. Red bellies get 12 inches and need atleast 60-70 gallons PER fish. In that dinky 55 you aint gonna be able to keep anyone with them and pretty soon your only gonna have 1 piranha.

glass catfish r cool. they r mostly clear so the pirianhas will see right through them (Not kidding). They r also very fast swimmers so they could out swim the piranhas.

I really don't think you can have anything else in the tank with 'em.

Please dont do that, all the fish will be eaten. Ask your petstore if there is any other crustacean or something that can go with them...
