A lot of people talk about how the Irish D got torched by OSU in the Fiesta Bowl and this is all too true. The question is, with 9 returning starters, will this defense, that finished 103rd nationally in against the pass do any better in its second year? There's been a lot of hype about Calvin Johnson coming into this game, but I firmly believe that a WR is only as good as his QB. Case in point, Reggie Ball threw three more picks than TDs last year (41 vs. 38). The key variable here is the Irish D, they're the difference between a blowout and a shootout. It'll be interesting to see how they perform, and we know the Irish offense will come to play. I'll say that the Irish beat a Top 25 opponent on the road for the second year in a row, crushing the Jackets, 42-17. But as I always say, who really knows?

Notre Dame 45 [Brady Quinn 17-24, 3 TDs]
Georgia Tech 17
Defense will give up some yards, but they look to improve from their meltdown during the Fiesta Bowl.
Georgia Tech cannot cover Jeff Samardzija or Rhema McKnight[if he plays] because they blitz far more often than not, which will lead Quinn to make his key throws, and really, who can stop Darius Walker?

I think 27-24, GT. This is a more dangerous team than Notre Dame fans want to admit.
