My left ear has no problems... but my right ear hurts very badly with headphones... its not like I listen to much because I hardly use headphones. And I have always had this problem... with just my right ear.

you must be using a little to much music directly to the ear canal. Get it checked out or you might have some problems later. I hope you are not hearing any ringing sound because that is a very bad sign.

In-the-ear headphones? If so, try the larger headphones that cup the ear, it could be that your ear is sensitive to having something stuffed inside it.

you may be applying too much pressure inserting the headphone or maybe you have a narrow ear canal so maybe stopping using headphones could be a good idea

wear your right earphone just over the top above your right(bad ear) you will be able to hear with your left earphone of your headphone set.

Maybe your rt ear is more sentive since you say this has been going on for a while that is genetically possible. I suggestion turning the volume down.
