like if i were to rent a game would i be able to download that on to my xbox360 or somthing like that so i can play it without the disk

No you can't. That would defeat the sale of games wouldn't it. Microsoft (XBox), Nintendo (CUBE & Wi) and Sony (Playstaton) make sure that you can't save a game on the system. You'll always need the disc to play.

No, but if you buy the Xbox Live Arcade games online they're yours to keep. (They are suitably addictive and most are less than $5 via Microsoft Points.)

Also, try the PGR3 and Perfect Dark Zero demos. They'll keep you busy for a while.
