Hi, I am starting to get back into my spirituality and I'm looking to meet new people who are also Pagans/Witches who I can talk to, learn from, etc. Please respond, and also I would appreciate not being called a satanists, told I'm going to hell etc. Or that I'm evil and what not. I don't need to nor want to hear it. Sorry.

Wow, I asked nicely for people to not start with the whole satanists, evil stuff yet people still responded like that. when will people just let others be and stop forcing their beleifs on others, and also stop putting other peoples beleifs down, and a big thing, execptance of others beleifs with kindness and love rather then threaten harm because people are different. Isn't that what christianity preaches, love thy neighbor. Maybe so, unless "thy neighbor" is different. Or "Thy neighbor" doesn't follow the christian religion. what makes people think that you can shun another because of their differences. would Jesus turn anyone away because of their differences??? I think not, why preach love if you show hate??? God loves everyone but pagans are going to hell, gays and lesbians are going to hell... aYou can't claim to love someone but reject them for their differences. you can't love someone yet judge them and turn them away from you because of their differences. Thats not love...

Here's my question. What's the point? Do you get 72 virgin cats when your cauldron blows up in your face? Really, what kind of need does being a witch satisfy?

I've never understood this. At least the other major religions offer a purpose, a plan, and a promise, even if some of them aren't all that much fun, like being reborn as a nematode. What does being a witch or a pagan get you? Just seems kinda juvenile, reactionary. Silly even. Like, "Ooh, I hate Christians. My mean old dad was a Christian, and he wouldn't let me date that guy from algebra class. So I'm going to be a witch!"

And observation: Why do witches and pagans only criticize Christianity? It seems to me that Islam would have much more to be concerned about, what with its commandments to kill infidels and all.

To the nutter underneath me: No, you aren't in tandem with nature. A scientist is. You have some disney, fantasy-land notion of what nature is. I'd like to see you actually out in real nature, not in a drumming circle in a local park observing the squirells. Just like a lot of things people did thousands of years ago, paganism is just plain stupid. I am not any religion. But of all the religions out there, paganism, or witchery, or whatever, is about as comical as it gets. A high priestess? I had no idea that was a part fo nature. I must have missed the episode on Animal Planet about them.

And what's the point of worshipping the solstice? I don't get that. It occurs because of teh eccentricity of the planet's orbit. Nothing outside the laws of physics there, nothing to get all witchy and mystical about.

Someone else mentioned "Ancient Ways". I wonder if that includes shoving some hapless wanderer into a wicker basket and setting him on fire. Or cutting them open and spreading their blood on the flields. Those pagans. Such lovely folks they were.

I am pagan. I have been one for about 2 years, that is when I started practicing Wicca. At the time, I was trying to find the right religion for myself. And yet people didn't want me to. They always came and said this and they said that. They said that if I become a wiccan I was going to have a 40 pound dragon on my house, blah blah blah. That I should go buy this then, or buy that... It still goes on. I even brought a couple books to school on the subject, and it became even worse. But whatever you know. People asked questions, and I answered them. They somewhat became interested. But then I started getting e-mails, and mail that was about what a Satanist I was. I have had a bad experience, but whatever you know. i'm not going to change. I love Paganism. I am kind to everyone, even in they say mean things to me. Why hate someone? There is enough hate in the world, be nice you know?

If you ever need anything go ahead and IM me. I'm here most of the time.

I am not a Pagan, I am not any religion but I wanted to answer you in support of you beliefs. I know a fair amount about Paganism and support it. I think it is beautiful, very spiritual, and from what I know, seems a more satisfying belief structure than other followings. I do not think you're going to hell and know that it has nothing to do with satanism. I also know that most Christian holidays were built around or out right stolen from Pagans. The main symbol of Easter is a bunny, a symbol of fertility in the the Spring Solstice, the practice of string lights on your Christmas tree comes from hanging candles in Evergreen trees in the winter to drive the dark away on the shortest day of the year ( the winter solstice). So anyone who says that paganism is evil, should take a deeper look at their Christianity!

depends on what one calls " pagan " really doesn't it ? I am of the opinion that if a person respects and performs rituals/ceremonies in a consious effort to honor the Ancient Ways with no disrespect to The Ancestors then there is really nothing to worry about or fear. Remember the changes which have taken place over the years and even the term " pagan " has changed. good luck in your quest and try using the internet to start.

I am a practicing, committed pagan! I am also a High Priestess, please contact me and I will answer your specific questions.

To answer the above Answer, Paganism was around1,000's of years before Christianity emerged. We worship nature, or rather we work in tandem with nature and the natural laws, the closest other religion I can liken it to is Buddahism... but not really.

Unfortunately there is a lot of ignorance surrounding Paganism, perpetuated by the Christian Church, who hijakced the old festivals of Yule (Christmas), Eostre (Easter) etc. In fact the Christian Church expressly declared Dec 25th as Christ's Birthday to stop the Old Religion celebrating the midwinter festival!

Blessings

::waves:: Pagan, with strong Wiccan influence here. Don't mind the naysayers, their ignorance and intolerance will come back to them eventually.

If you're looking for a forum to discuss Paganism without the "You're going to hell!" crowd, do a Google search for "wicca forums" or "pagan forums" and you should get some good links. There are some good forums out there for discussion!!
