Not at all. As the fear created by 9/11 wears off and people once again begin to realize that the administration is trampling the constitution and violating basic civil liberties, it becomes more likely that the USA will stage another terrorist attack in order to rally its citizens back to rabid nationalism and encourage the trading of freedom for safety. The next staged terrorist attack will be designed to invoke suspesion of the constitution and massive population relocation undeer the management of FEMA. It;s only a matter of time before radiological/chemical/biological agents are used on our own people to justify a police state and a broader war abroad.
That's hardly safety.

Immediately after the foiled terror plot in Britain was revealed, Republican strategists and members of the administration began crowing about how they could once again make the midterm elections hinge on national security. Today, President Bush launched a new PR offensive to convince Americans that the "Stay the course" policy is working and troops are not fighting in the middle of a civil war.
The bungled occupation of Iraq is only the most visible failure of George Bush's cowboy diplomacy. Under his watch, Iran and North Korea have continued their pursuit of nuclear weapons. The number of terror attacks in 2005 quadrupled. Five years after 9-11, only 6% of shipping containers entering our ports are inspected and $2 billion has been cut from law enforcement. Americans who grew up with grateful Berliners greeting the arrival of John F. Kennedy now see a rising tide of anti-Americanism around the world.
And George Bush tells us that we're safer?
Albert Einstein once said "The height of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." Unfortunately for the country, what George Bush does over and over again never yields a different result. What's worse is that the Republican Senate, which is charged with overseeing American foreign policy, has rubberstamped his disastrous policies every step of the way.
America needs a change in leadership - so we can turn this insanity into accountable, tough and smart policies that will restore our leadership in the world and put the lessons of 9-11 into concrete measures to keep us safe.
Five years after September 11, the Bush administration has still not acted on the bipartisan recommendations of the 9/11 commission. The CIA unit charged with hunting down bin Laden has been shelved and the increasingly isolated George Bush refuses to change tactics in the fight against a terrorist enemy that has now dispersed across the globe. We can't afford to waste five more years with incompetence and failed policies.
We need change in Washington, and it begins with defeating Republican senators who have willingly bought into George W. Bush's misguided policies.
For too long, George Bush hasn't been accountable to Congress. His dangerous incompetence has left us less safe and secure.

I don't think we are any safer today than the day after 9/11 and just like the war on drugs that has been being waged for decades don't see any end in sight here either.

in simple terms the former day i became chatting with an elderly female with regard to the bush administration and how 9/11 has replaced our lives. So in my opinion there is a few thing we lost on that that day that the (so referred to as) terrorist gained interior the loose worldwide! They gained the conflict on terror. for my section i've got faith that the (loose worldwide) is in no way loose anymore! i've got faith not as secure with my rights as an American as many co-workers that are from the united kingdom & around Europe that the CIA might have placed a end to 9/11 & it rather is already been shown! i spent 2 days of my existence exploring the released comments of what the CIA knew in the previous 9/11. questioning much extra i've got faith extra of a theaght from my own Goverment than Bid Lauden. Iraq became not the meant objective yet became interior the White domicile & Afganastan became harbering Bin laden. it rather is time all of us communicate up everywhere in the (loose worldwide)?

actually we still are pretty vulnerable. but yes we are a little safer...seeing what was planned with those planes in England....but somethings still arn't decectable really....i mean someone could be an insider and no one knows it...i mean they have no clue what-so-ever that they are talking to Al Qieda....and then take over something and that takes down something big....or someone is a spy and leaks stuff to other countries
