I recently moved and had my fish in a cooler. Unfortunately, they were in there about 30 hrs. I did check on them and putt stress coat in the water. When I pulled my largest goldfish out, his scales on the back half were very dry. Now they are white and peeling. He's moving around fine and eating, but it looks bad. Any ideas to help him recover faster?

The water did fully cover the fish. It could possibly be because my oscar died on the trip, I'm not sure. The water is now prestine. The other 2 gold fish have a few patches of white, but they aren't peeling.

Keep the water pristine by doing daily 30 percent waterchanges making sure the new water is dechlorinated and the same temp as whats in the tank and add Melafix to the water to speed up healing and also add Pimafix to ward off bacteria and fungus.
I dont understand how his back half could be dry, did you not put enough water to totally cover the fish?

the skin on your fish has died, eventually they will grow new skin back but there might be a scar.

Is it fungus. If you use salt, dont use table salt. Here is a website with goldfish diseases: http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/disease.html good luck!
