you can do what he said if you dont want to use the computer but if you want to edit home movies and stuff too use Pinnacle Systems with the dazzle. you can capture videos from vhs, camcorder, or even video games

1)Get a VHS converter device (video capture) that plugs into the USB port of your computer. This allows you to transfer the VHS tape from the VCR to the computer as a file.
2)Software that comes with the video capture device will allow you to convert the file into a file that is compatible for DVD.
3)Run DVD burning software to transfer the file from your hard drive to the DVD. The software (depending on how much you paid) will also allow you to put in menus, indexing, etc.
or there may also be settop DVD recorders out there that let you connect the VCR directly to the recorder to burn your DVD.

Go to Best Buy, pay the bastards 50 bucks for a little device called a Dazzle video converter. Hook a VCR to the Dazzle device then to a computer, from there convert the tapes to DVD's. Granted this happens in real time, meaning that however long the tape is, is how lone it will take to convert. Make it a winter project, believe me it will take a while.

I got a Panasonic dvd/vcr recorder. It dubs vcrs to dvd in one touch. Mine is a DMR-ES40V model

its called a dvd burner, some you can only burn dvds but others you can turn tapes to dvd and burn dvds
try walmart--- tha'ts where my dad got his. or best buy or something
