Navigate to Internet options(For Windows Xp Tools>Internet options), Under the general tab click clear history and delete cookies and you are done.

you can erase your searches by clearing your history, cache, temporary files and deleting your cookies, however if someone trained in doing computer autopsy's would be able to pull back most if not all of your searches, also I believe Yahoo itself saves all searches in its data base, and has in the past turned them over to a government agency upon order to do so.
