it is not safe as the heat emitting the laptop will damage the reproductive organs

The additional heat may (repeat - may) affect the sperm in males by weakening the sperm. There is no affect to a woman other than having a warm lap. Really good on cold days. Just make sure not to block the air vent so the laptop does not overheat.

Actually NO, it is not. It often restricts airflow, causing overheating.

It can be damaging to the laptop, not to mention very uncomfortable to the user.

That is the irony of them being called 'laptops'.

For all those who answered yes....WRONG answer.

As mentioned, it is better to place them on a hard flat surface. If you can get a flat surface to put it on and then set it in your lap, it should be fine.

Yes it is (hence the name). Just make sure it is not a Dell with a bad battery and you should be fine. I work with them all day (flying all over the country), and the only thing that you will notice, is when you remove the laptop, you will have a little bit of hot legs.

Mine is on my lap now. My legs havn't fallen off yet. It has been found however that prolonged use for males can reduce sperm count and therfore fertility. The same applies to jobs which require sitting for long periods such as taxi and bus drivers.

No. Not safe. It occupies the space (lap) which can be utilised in a better way. ;)

i suggest you put something hard on your lap and set the computer on it to prevent restricting air flow. if the air can't get in for the fan to blow it out it might overheat

I totally agree with dwightl.geo's answer.

In general, you should hear and feel the fans when they run. You should feel the HEAT. If it gets TOO hot, turn the thing OFF and unplug the power source. It should NOT burn you.
