I dont think there is enough oil in the earth, what do you think we will do when oil runs out? Do you think we'll start mining other planets, or will we invent something else to replace oil? Explain your thought please.

first of all i love topics concerning this subject we will in fact run out of fuel within the next 50 to 60 years but the govermant (if they are smart) will concentrate our remaining fuel on public transportation and not make it obvious that the only reason we dont kill everyone in the middle east is because we need the fuel.

Dont worry though scientists are working hard to make cars that run on water corn and even bacon grease the future is still unwritten and is full of possibilities and cars will most likely use a mix of wind solar and air energy (air being powered of chemicals and corbon dioxide in the air) the three of these sources of power put together will make cars run faster and and more efficient and even improve the enviroment by being used.

amd in response to another answer i would like to note that we are more likely to run out of fuel with more people on the world instead of never running out you have no idea that we use ten years worth of fuel in one year and the more people we have means the more gas we use per year

I don't think we will ever run out of oil. Oil is a fossil fuel: the Encarta definition is:
any carbon-containing fuel, for example, coal, peat, petroleum, and natural gas, derived from the decomposed remains of prehistoric plants and animals

Since oil is contributed to being from prehistoric plants and animals there is the implication that we will one day run out. But animals and plants did not stop dying after the prehistoric era. We probably will never run out of oil as long as the cycle of life continues to play out as it always has. Things are born- they die- they decompose.... just like the prehistoric plants and animals. And now that the earth is populated with even more plants and animals (this would also include man) how CAN we run out? I don't believe we will.
Have a great day!!!

Here's a thought. I think we'll run out of potable water before oil. Clean water will be expensive as hell as only for the rich.

As far as a replacement for oil....I don't know, cow $hit perhaps?

Speaking of cow $hit, check out Stormy Knight's answer. "Hey SK, if you're serious, rent the movie END OF SUBURBIA. Hopefully it will show you the light"

We do not have to worry about running out of oil, for a long time. I think the best way to go, when that day comes, is to start building nuclear plants for more power supplies. It is clean, and has unlimited potential. I think we should start building nuclear facilities now, so we don't have to depend on foreign countries for our needs. All of France is powered by nuclear power, right now, and we better start soon. Please read this article>>>

I think chemical liquid such as ethanol will replace it. It may be cleaner. Ethanol has been tried and used in mixture with gasolin, with good results. Of course, there must be some other fuels too.
