TCP/IP it is a communication protocol
Without this the computer can communicate between each other
As with all other communications protocol, TCP/IP is composed of layers:
IP - is responsible for moving packet of data from node to node. IP forwards each packet based on a four byte destination address (the IP number). The Internet authorities assign ranges of numbers to different organizations. The organizations assign groups of their numbers to departments. IP operates on gateway machines that move data from department to organization to region and then around the world.
Like a protocol it is composed from three layers
TCP - is responsible for verifying the correct delivery of data from client to server. Data can be lost in the intermediate network. TCP adds support to detect errors or lost data and to trigger retransmission until the data is correctly and completely received.
Sockets - is a name given to the package of subroutines that provide access to TCP/IP on most systems.
As you can see like a normal use r you don't need information about tcp/ip but like the network administrator it is very important to monitoring the communication and show the possible errors and information about the data-gram packet and Ip
All tools called generic net monitoring tools show you the information.
if you want to verify this click your connection.properties>networking
Always TCP/iP protocol it is checked

go to control panel, then there should be network connections, and then once you open there was supposed to be different network connections such as broadband, wireless, dial up, etc.
right click on broadband 10/100 icon. then choose properties and i guess that should take to different kind of connections. hope it helps
