So today I took a nasty fall on my bike. Thank god I was wearing a helmet. Anyway I landed on my head and my arm, but my side hurts underneath my arm. Breathing doesn't hurt unless its a really deep breath. If I had cracked ribs would the pain be excruciating or is it possible for them to just be a little uncomfortable.
Will I be deformed if I wait for a day to see the doctor if they were broken?

I have broken ribs that won't heal and every once in a while they pop loose and hurt all over again..
the pain you feel when you take a deep breath is most likely being cracked.. and they will hurt for a while.. get a wrap and put it around them if it continues to hurt to bad. the doctor won't do any more..
don't wrap it to tight just to hold in place.
if they are broken they will hurt more but the same way when you try to breath.. unless it is broken clear through you have nothing to worry about..
As you decribe the pain i would say they are just cracked.or bruised.
try not to do a whole lot of rough exercise and let them heal..
the pain will go away..

It is usually quite painful if you have broken a rib. What you are describing could well be a bruise.
You are not likely to be deformed if you wait a day, however a cracked rib can puncture the lung. You'd know about THAT too if you've got it and you probably wouldn't be sitting here typing out a question.
If you are very short of breath, go to the hospital emergency room! Call an ambulance if you need to.
If you are sore in your belly under your ribs ... consider getting checked out by a doctor as injury to liver or spleen can be life threatening too.

I have a nasty cold with a horrible cough. After one coughing session my chest hurt really bad. Every time I take a deep breath or start to cough I get a sharp stabbing pain in my ribs. Did I crack my ribs?

Listen if your breathing and your walking around your fine. Obviously theres no hole in your lung from a puncture. The problem is the hospital is not going to do anyhing for you anyways except ice it. You cant restrict bruised or cracked ribs by wrapping them it makes them worse, plus they heal on their own fine. So unfortunatley for you , you will have to deal with it for awhile, its definetley not cracked though, I have had that, I play arena football, trust me you would be feeling it. You bruised it 2-3 weeks, then see how you feel.

well maybe its a slight crack to your ribs. if i were you.. id get medical attention. if your living with your parents let them know show them..
