The Floyd might have that reputation for people who "need" to attach labels ....
.... but if you have an open mind, you know the lyrics are very sober-minded.
"And then one day you find:
Ten years have gone behind you
"No one told you when to run.

Pink Floyd laments the waste of youthful energy, and how quickly our life passed. When a band like Pink Floyd is huge in Germany, known for its cerebral listeners, you can't simply label them as boring.
Perhaps you should label your mind as a work in project.

first of all, i do not smoke pot. secondly, if anyone thinks pink floyd sucks and also that jim morrison's poetry is sh*te, as you put it, then you probably also consider modern rap, music, not a bunch of over-payed clowns having a seizure into a microphone. there is a lot of music out there, go listen to some of it.

Let's first start by asking you who you think is not boring. They are probably some third rate wish they were somebody one hit wonders. who will not have an album on Billboards top 100 for some 33YEARS. That's over 90 times longer than the next closet competitor, Michael Jackson's Thriller. I would be willing to bet that you have not been around 33 years, huh? When you figure out what good music is feel free to ask an "intelligent" question.

Music intended to be mellow isn't intrinsically "boring". Besides, "boring" is completely subjective, while things like use of metaphor, innovation in production and longevity might be a little easier to measure.
