I've never heard of that. It might work, just be sure the rag is CLEAN. I love Neutrogena products if you haven't tried them yet. Or Noxema is pretty darn good.

The hot water makes it easier to get out black heads and pop your pustules (white heads) it does not "prevent" acne. It is good to use warm water to wash your make up off with because it loosens it.
Toothpaste will dry out the pimple, but without getting out what is in it, it will come back.
If you are planning on doing this yourself and not getting a professional facial, I would recommend steaming the face and only getting out the ones you can gently pinch and get out. If you have to squeeze too hard you have an entirely different set of problems and this thing we call "picking" can scar your skin--forever.
On the pimples you were able to extract follow up with the toothpaste, pat dry your skin and dab lightly just on those spots.
Another trick is to put visine on the really red ones to bring down the redness (yep, works the same on skin for eyes!)
See if you mom will get you some tea tree oil--it is not expensive and easily found (health food store or Sally's Beauty Supplies) This kills bacteria and will make it so that your pimples won't keep re-occuring in the same places. You can put it directly on your skin.
Now I want to warn you about using too hot water on your skin and too much toothpaste. It sounds like you skin is oily. That is why you break out on your cheeks and not just the T-zone (forhead, nose, chin). You want to be careful not to over stimulate or over dry your oily skin. That is because when oily skin is overstimulated it wants to make more oil--then you get more pimples...And also, when you topically dry out oily skin the skin says "Oh no! Make more oil"--so go lightly with both of these remedies. Get a moisturizer for oily skin-- (yep, even oily skin needs moisture--which is different from oil)
Good luck and have fun at school!

hot water opens the pores. This helps to keep them clean. Toothpaste does help to dry the pimples. Put a little on before bed at night, but make sure you wash it off before going to school.

No. That's only going to open your pores. You need to get some medicine on those puppies asap. I heard that the toothpaste works although I never tried it. Good luck. I promise you won't be the only one w/acne on the first day of school.
