DO NOT have an attic fan installed. A full ridge vent will work better than an attic fan, and since you already have a ridge vent, the installation of an attic fan would be counter productive. They would work against each other and make the attic even hotter. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! Research it yourself, BEFORE you call an electrician.

it is summer you know and even a cool attic will be 100 in daytime. The next step is an attic fan with a thermostat. Looks like a mushroom on your roof. Works great with air conditioning.
Or a whole house fan that pushes air up and out. can only be used when the air is off. Installs in the house hall ceiling.

You've received several good answers, but better insulation will keep heat from rising into the attic. Many people mistakenly think all the heat is coming from the sun hitting the roof, but a surprising amount maybe rising up from below.

There are two types of power ventilators. One mounts on the roof and requires you to cut a hole in it. The other is a gable mounted unit. These are easier to install. You may even have gable vents on the sides of your house already. You can purchase a gable mounted power ventilator that will work for 2500-3000 square ft. at Home Depot for about $80.

You probably need to call an electrician to install
an attic fan. If you have the talent to do it yourself, check with Home Depot or Lowe's for
prices and materials needed. You also consult
the DIY.com site off of Google. Look for the
Do it yourself network under the various links.

If you already have ridge vents & soffit vents then you don't have enough insulation. I had a foot of blown in put in my house last year & could tell the difference that day. Its definitely worth it.

attic fans are amazing. they work really well by pulling hot air out of your attic when it reaches certain temps. make sure you have it installed by a reputable dealer.
